Whether you work in a busy clinic, don’t have access to an oven, or like to allow pet parents the chance to add their own decorations, our Bake at Home Bundle makes the process of sending unbaked ClayPaws prints home with families to bake simple and meaningful.
Baking is easy! However, we know some of you may have been curious about air-dry clay because it doesn’t need to be baked. We get it! You’re busy and baking may seem like an unnecessary step. But here’s why it’s not:
- Air dry clays can shrink up to 15% while drying.
- Overtime, air dry clays often crack, curl up or otherwise deteriorate.
- Air dry clays were created as a craft clay for children and educators. They were never intended to be used as a medium for a forever keepsake.
- Additionally, foam print options never harden and the containers that protect them make it impossible for pet parents to hold or touch their pet’s print.
Convenient, Higher-Quality Alternative to Air Dry Clay
On the other hand, ClayPaws Clay was specifically developed to create archival keepsakes. Ones that will stand the test of time.
How is this accomplished?
Baking.
Baking is the strength of ClayPaws Clay. It is the baking process that cures our proprietary formula and makes the bonds permanent.
Baking is Essential. Your time to do it, is not!
So, the step of baking is essential. What is not essential, is you baking at your hospital or business. Our clay can be baked any time after making the print. (We do recommend baking within 4 weeks to avoid cracks from forming in the clay.) This gives pet parents plenty of time to bring their unbaked prints home, set it somewhere safe and come back to it when they are ready to decorate and bake.
Turning the decorating and baking process into a ceremony can be an extremely effective way for pet parents to begin the healing process after a loss. Unlike other paw print kits, ClayPaws Kits were developed by professional grief counselors with a healing protocol in mind. Our NEW Healing Ceremony Card outlines for pet parents how and why to use the decorating and baking process to create a healing experience for themselves and their families.
How to Send Prints with Families to Bake at Home
The Healing Ceremony Card is laminated so it can be put in the same bag or container as the unbaked print without oils in the clay damaging the card. You can use the original ClayPaws Kit packaging, a Take and Bake Container, or even our Pet Memory Box as a send home container!
If you want to send an unbaked print home in our Pet Memory Box, all you need is our NEW Baking Disk along with the Healing Ceremony Card. Place the unbaked print on the Baking Disk, gently bend the tab on the baking disk to a 90° angle, place it in the depression in the box and lay the laminated Healing Ceremony Card over it before closing the lid. The Baking Disk and Healing Ceremony Card will protect the Pet Memory Box from the oils in the unbaked clay. Your clients can then bake the print at home by removing the print and Baking Disk from the box, and following the instructions on the Healing Ceremony Card to bake their ClayPaws print right on the Baking Disk. After baking, they can place their cured ClayPaws print back into the Pet Memory Box for display.
The Baking Disk and Healing Ceremony Card are available separately in packs of 12 or together for less in our Bake at Home Bundle.
