Hi! I’m Cassie and I’m the owner and founder of Golden Growls Senior Pet Rescue. Because of my love for Senior dogs, I have not had a puppy in 13 years – that sounds even crazier as I type it out. My husband and I have enjoyed the slower pace and calmness that comes along with having older dogs. Though we had talked about getting a puppy in the future to give our kids the experience of having a puppy to grow up with, we had no immediate plans.
Well, after a string of “meant to be” events, we adopted a puppy from a local rescue last week! His name is Reno, and he is a 12-week-old Pitbull mix. His calm demeanor and love for snuggling won us over. When picked up, he melts into you like butter, and it’s the best. Having the matureness of our senior dogs and the liveliness of Reno, has proven to be a lot of fun.
Since I have had primarily older dogs, I have many ClayPaws print of my lost pets. But when my co-workers brought me a ClayPaws print of Reno, it was an exciting way to receive the treasured keepsake of this time. This made me start thinking about what a great tool ClayPaws prints could be for our customers in establishing a new relationship with clients.
With animals being a big part of my personal and professional life, I know just how important the veterinarian-client relationship is. The kindness shown to a pet parent at the end of a pet’s life will have a lasting impression, but so can the beginning.
A Clay Paw Print: Not only for end-of-life
ClayPaws prints typically symbolize the loss of a pet . These prints are lasting and tangible keepsakes that your staff can feel confident in presenting to your clients. By providing your clients with a ClayPaws print, you are giving your staff a way to show their compassion, while also honoring the human-animal bond we all value. But ClayPaws prints can also be used to honor the beginning of a bond and help your staff build lasting connections with your clients from the start.
Make it Celebratory with a ClayPaws Print
We often don’t have too many keepsakes of our pets from their younger years. We may keep a collar, similarly positioned photos of them to show their growth over the years, a lock of hair, etc. A ClayPaws print can serve as a lasting keepsake to show the growth of a client’s once young pet and symbolize the exciting time of adding a new pet to their family. A survey done by IDEXX shows out of 1,001 dog and cat owners who visit a veterinarian regularly, 93% of respondents believed the bond they have with their practice is important to their pet’s health.
With this in mind, during a spay or neuter surgery is the perfect opportunity to make a ClayPaws paw print with ease. While the pet is anesthetized, you can ensure the print is made to your standards. Add our Gotcha Ribbon to the print to honor the beginning of the bond between the pet and pet parent. When the pet parent comes to pick up their pet, the surprise of a clay paw print will be a valued keepsake and serve as a reminder of your kindness and commitment to their pet’s care.
Thanks for all you do,
Cassie McArdle
