We were recently contacted by a very special girl named Avery (and her mother, Kim) about her mission, Avery’s Pawsitive Change.
Avery is battling Ewing Sarcoma Cancer for the second time in less than a year. No one should ever have to battle cancer. And, no parent should ever have to watch their child go through it. However, as so many of us know, it is a sad reality that cancer is something that many people must face at some point in their lives either personally or because a loved one is diagnosed.
Avery deserves all of the admiration in the world for how she has taken on cancer not once, but twice, in her young life. But, what is even more impressive, is she’s turned her focus outward. Even while she’s fighting for her life, she is also fighting for those who cannot fight for themselves. Avery’s dream is to one day open an animal shelter. Until then, she is determined to help as many animals as she can. She is doing this by raising money to donate food and supplies to animal shelters through Avery’s Pawsitive Change.
We’ve contributed to Avery’s Pawsitive Change and hope to help even more by raising awareness. As I write this blog, Avery is in the middle of her second round of chemo. Avery, we want you to know we are thinking of you and sending you love. You have already done so much good in this world. You even used your Make-A-Wish to help animals in need! We know you have so much more to do and we are rooting for you!
How to Help Avery’s Pawsitive Change
Visit the following links to help Avery. Her Facebook Page as well as her GoFundMe page are great resources if you’d like to learn more about Avery’s mission or donate.
In addition, we want to make you aware of two items that are available through our store that help pets and people with cancer as well as animal shelters and rescues as part of our Give Back Program.
A portion of the proceeds from the sales of our Gold-Plated Heart Charms go to benefit One Cure. One Cure’s founding principle is that cancer affects all creatures and that treatment breakthroughs come through collaborations between scientists and doctors who are working with pets and people. One Cure’s goal is to improve the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of cancer in pets. And then use their research and knowledge also to benefit people with cancer.
A portion of the proceeds from our Yellow “Gotcha!” Ribbon sales go to benefit Golden Growls Senior Rescue. Golden Growls Senior Rescue is a 501(c)3, PACFA licensed, foster based rescue, dedicated to bringing solace, love, and quality veterinary care to senior shelter dogs. Their goal is to responsibly rescue senior dogs who are normally overlooked due to their age and medical needs. They strongly believe in focusing on quality verse quantity.
Until next time,
