About Our Training Consultant


Dana Durrance is a consultant with VeterinaryWisdom.com and a veterinary grief specialist.

Dana holds a Master's degree in Clinical Psychology and has a special focus on
grief counseling. Dana is the former Director of Changes: Support for People and
Pets Program at Colorado State University's Veterinary Teaching Hospital and over the past decade, has worked with veterinarians, students, and pet owners on all aspects of pet loss and grief.

Dana lectures lectures regularly on the topics of communication, pet loss, and compassion fatigue, and is co-author of the book, Connecting with Clients: Practical Communication Techniques for 15 Common Situations (AAHA Press, 1998).

Dana is co-owner and grief counselor at Mountain Shadows Pet Hospital (which she owns with her husband, a small animal veterinarian).
