Debby is the co-owner of World by the Tail, Inc., and is the wife of a veterinarian. At their
practice, she does her best to comfort children when their pets die. Frustrated by the lack
of quality children's literature to address this problem, Debby took inspiration from the death
of her own dog Charlee and wrote this heartfelt children's book.
A Special Place for Charlee is appropriate for all ages and is most effective with pre-school
and school-aged children. Topics covered include learning bad news, euthanasia, and
coping with grief. Veterinarians are portrayed in a very positive way and demonstrate appropriate sensitivity to the emotions expressed by Charlee's family.
